Marrakech

Begin your tour of Morocco when you arrive at Marrakech Airport where you met by your Berber Treasures driver at the scheduled group transfer time and welcomed to UNESCO world heritage Marrakech, the Jewel of the South. Transfer to your Marrakech tour accommodation. Overnight Marrakesh.

Marrakech – Casablanca

This morning your Moroccan holiday adventure heads north to Casablanca, arguably the most famous city in Morocco. Your afternoon city tour introduces you to Casablanca’s principal sights including Hassan II Mosque (exterior), La Corniche and Mohammed V Plaza. Overnight in Casablanca hotel. (Breakfast)

Casablanca – Rabat – Meknes – Volubilis – Fez

Today, your Berber Treasures Morocco Tours itinerary has a feast of historic UNESCO world heritage sites for you to experience, as you travel to Fez. Travelling first to the imperial city of Rabat, your Morocco group tour itinerary takes you to the stunning Oudaya Kasbah, Hassan Tower and the Mohammed V Mausoleum – magnificent examples of traditional Moroccan architecture and craftsmanship. Heading inland, you travel to Meknes, where you can enjoy exploring the sights of this UNESCO world heritage 17th century imperial city, including the massive Bab el Manour gate, Henri es-Souani granaries and the Agdal Basin. Your Morocco tour heads next to the scenically set ancient Roman town of Volubilis – yet another UNESCO world heritage site. The extensive Roman ruins here, some of the best preserved in Africa, include remarkable Roman mosaics for which the site is world renowned. Your Morocco tour continues to the impressive imperial city of Fez, one of the oldest medieval cities in the world. Experience one of the traditional Moroccan riads in Fez ‘s historic old medina. Fez

Full-day Fez city tour, of one of Morocco’s oldest imperial cities, with your expert local Fez travel guide. Your heritage tour of Fez visits the UNESCO world heritage old walled medina. Here you can see outstanding historical sites such as Madrasa Bou Inania, the Kairaouine Mosque and Mihrab (exterior), the exotic bazaars and souks including the famous Souk Ain Allou leather tanneries and Souk Attarine (spices souk), Fes el Jdid’s Dar el Makhzen (Royal Palace exterior) and enormous Marinid gate of Bab Dekakene, the Jewish Mellah, and enjoy panoramic views over Fez from the 16th century Borj Sud fortress. Fez – Middle Atlas Mountains – Midelt – Eastern High Atlas Mountains – Merzouga (Erg Chebbi)

Today your Morocco travel turns south. Majestic scenery unfolds as your route crosses Morocco’s Middle Atlas Mountains and eastern region of the High Atlas Mountains, before descending into the Moroccan desert. Here you follow the Ziz River through the Ziz Valley and beautiful Ziz Gorge, a desert oasis with vast date palm groves, toward Merzouga, a small desert Berber village situated on the edge of Morocco’s spectacular Sahara Desert sand dunes known as Erg Chebbi. Tonight you stay in a traditional desert kasbah located at the fringe of the dunes. Overnight in Merzouga area kasbah. (Breakfast & Dinner)

Erg Chebbi Desert Villages & Desert Camp

Explore the Merzouga oasis area. The Berber of this region are famously known as the “blue men” for their striking indigo blue gandoras and turbans. In Merzouga village, you visit a local Berber family and share a cup of refreshing mint tea. Stop by the black Moroccan village of Khamlea with its soulful Gnaoua singers. Returning to your Kasbah, there is some time to relax before your Morocco holiday immerses you in a night straight out of the pages of a Thousand and One Nights for a magical night under the stars in Morocco at a desert camp. Taking a 4-wheel drive excursion to the peacefully secluded eastern section of the Erg Chebbi sand dunes where you find your desert camp, blending Berber authenticity with modern comfort. Here you meet your local Berber camel guide who will lead you on your sunset camel ride into the sand dunes to watch the sun setting over the Sahara desert*. Merzouga – Todra Gorge – Road of a Thousand Kasbahs – Ouarzazate

This morning earlier risers can watch the breathtaking sunrise over the desert landscape. Continuing your exploration of the Moroccan desert you visit the fossil area near Erfoud before your route turns westward. Following the Todra River through the scenic Todra oasis nestled at the base of the High Atlas Mountains you enter beautiful Todra Gorge. Resuming your journey, you pass through the High Atlas Berber town of Boumalne Dades to join the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs. Your Morocco travel along this Road takes you through the Roses Valley to the oasis town of Ouarzazate, strategically located on the crossroads of ancient desert camel caravan trade routes. This area is famous for its many traditional desert mud kasbahs and oasis villages set against the spectacular contrast soaring snow-capped mountains. Overnight in Ouarzazate. (Breakfast)

Ouarzazate – Ait Ben Haddou – Tizi n’Tichka (High Atlas Mountains) – Marrakesh

The final leg of your Sahara Desert tour visits the spectacular UNESCO world heritage Ait Ben Haddou Ksar, mud kasbah village. Ait Ben Haddou has some of Morocco’s most exotic and best-preserved kasbahs. Leaving the desert behind, you cross the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n’Tichka pass (2260m), Morocco’s highest mountain pass, and travel to Marrakesh. This UNESCO world heritage imperial city is known as the Jewel of the South and a highlight of all Morocco tours.
